If you ended up on this blog after reading "Danny in South Africa" you have ended up in the right place! This blog is a segway from my South Africa blog, as it focuses on my life after my exchange and on my travels this year. This blog also will cover a bit on my life as a student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. My goal is to share my travels with those who may be interested.
For the remainder of 2013, my travel plans are as follows:
- Leave Vancouver in late April to return to Chicago
- Go to visit my friend, Hannah, in Toronto, Ontario for a week in May. This may include a side trip to Montreal.
- Go to France for a week following my time in Toronto to go on vacation with my parents
- Fly back to Chicago around late May
- Go back to Europe at the end of June to do a study abroad program through UBC in Venice, Italy whilst I take Italian courses and learn about Italian culture.
- Fly back to Chicago in late July for the remainder of my summer.
- In mid-August, I am planning on going back to Vancouver for the next academic year.
During my time in Chicago, I am going to take the time to rediscover my own city. I feel that there is a lot about my hometown I don't know, and I am eager to look at it through a different lens. I will be documenting my explorations in Chicago on this blog. I'm planning on posting restaurant reviews, sightseeing recommendations, and other commentaries about my hometown.
In addition, I will write about Vancouver. Since I got here in September I have been to some interesting parts of this diverse city and done a great deal. I will also post about my two trips to Whistler and provide a few recommendations to interested travelers.
This blog may not be the life-narrative that was the South Africa blog, but I believe it will successfully accomplish my goal to one day become a travel writer. There is nothing I enjoy in this world more than going to new places, meeting new people, and exposing myself to different cultures. Posts pertaining to Vancouver and Chicago will come shortly, and expect to read posts about Europe this summer!
Cheers,
Danny
